Dr. Handly named SORSI's "Chiropractor of the Year"

Dr. Virginia Handly, a faculty member at Palmer West since 1989, recently was honored as the "International Chiropractor of the Year" by the Sacral Occipital Research Society International (SORSI). A 1946 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Handly received her award at SORSI's annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska.

"This award was long-awaited for Dr. Handly, whose consistent manner and quality of chiropractic education has not been properly recognized," said Roger Binyon, SORSI's executive director. "We are very proud to present her with this honor."

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Handly said, "I was really surprised when they called my name because there were some people who had done more. But, I was absolutely thrilled."

Even after more than five decades of service to the chiropractic profession in the fields of education, clinical practice and research, Dr. Handly shows no signs of slowing down. She still teaches sacral occipital technique lectures and lab courses at Palmer West, and has maintained a practice in San Jose for 11 years. "I'm not ready to hang it up too much," said Dr. Handly. "It's a pleasure helping people."

Chiropractic College Students Make Who's Who

Nearly 50 students from Life Chiropractic College West and Cleveland Chiropractic College-Los Angeles (CCCLA) have been selected to the prestigious directory Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.

A total of 14 students from Life West were named to the list of honorees. CCCLA, meanwhile, produced 34 students who made the group, which is selected from students in more than 1,900 institutions of higher learning worldwide.

The Who's Who directory was first published in 1934. Students are selected to the list based on the following criteria: academic achievement; service to the community; leadership in extracurricular activities; and potential for continued success.
