National College Faculty Member Testifies to NIH

Marion McGregor, D.C., M.Sc., recently testified at the National Institute of Health's (NIH) Office of Research on Women's Health. Dr. McGregor is associate professor at the National College of Chiropractic's (NCC) department of research, and her testimony was a consensus effort by the college's research department. The meeting, called by the Task Force on Opportunities for Research on Women's Health, allowed the public sector to identify the needs and opportunities for biomedical research on women's health issues.

Dr. McGregor's testimony focused on the role of conservative health care and chiropractic spinal manipulation in treating certain conditions that occur during women's reproductive years including primary dysmenorrhea and low back pain during pregnancy and labor. She also spoke on the issue of women using chiropractic and gave a cost/benefit analysis of chiropractic care. Her testimony, among others, will help the task force set the women's health research agenda for the different institutes of the NIH for the next 10-15 years.
