Bernard A. Coyle, Ph.D., chairman of the International Chiropractors' Association's (ICA) research committee, announced that ICA is currently accepting abstracts to be considered for the 1991 Scientific Symposium on Spinal Biomechanics.

One-page abstracts are invited for papers on theory, research or application covering biomechanics, biophysics, biochemistry, neurophysiology, and clinical procedures. Papers addressing child care, geriatric care, pregnancy, and sports injuries, including adjustive procedures, are also encouraged.

Abstracts should be 250 words in length and include the title, name(s) and affiliations of the author(s), addresses, and telephone numbers. In addition, current interest in the work, summary of background literature, methods used, results, conclusions, and implications for the chiropractic profession should be included. All abstracts should be submitted to the Program Committee at ICA by October 15, 1990.

Once the abstracts are selected for presentation, the authors will be notified and complete papers will be due by March 1 for inclusion in the proceedings.

The symposium will be held in conjunction with ICA's 65th Annual Convention, March 15-17, 1991, at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A major segment of the convention will focus on a series of adjustic workshops. These specialized workshops will highlight the theory, analysis, as well as demonstrations of different techniques for variety of conditions such as geriatric and pediatric care, sports injuries, and pregnancy.

In addition, a series of "Philosophy of a Successful Practice" seminars will be held by leading practitioners specializing in practice management.

"Program topics and speakers will be announced this fall," said ICA Convention Chairman Dr. Darrell Atchley from Lovington, New Mexico.
