Council of Chiropractic Education International Meets at WFC Congress

The Board of the Councils of Chiropractic Education International (CCEI) held its 12th annual meeting in conjunction with the World Federation of Chiropractic's 12th Biennial Congress and 25th anniversary.

The WFC Congress was hosted by the Chiropractic Association of South Africa (CASA). CCEI congratulates the CASA for a well-run conference and its excellent hospitality.

Mapping Project
CCEI President C. Lesley Biggs has championed the "mapping" of the Standards used by each agency. The first draft of the mapped Standards was reviewed and given tentative approval by the CCEI board. Based on her experience of mapping the Standards, President Biggs commented, "There is more agreement than variance between the Standards used by each agency."

The project will not be ready for public disclosure until the competencies and accreditation procedures also have been mapped and all internal reviews have been completed. The finish date is projected to be by year's end 2014.

The Finance Committee presented balanced budgets for 2013 and 2014. The Chiropractor's Association of Australia and the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board awarded grants to the CCEI, for which the agency is very grateful.

The Policy and Bylaw Committee has undertaken a complete review of all current documents that govern the organization and will provide a full revision for board approval at the 2014 Annual meeting.

The executive committee had completed a review of the performance of the executive director (ED), and expressed appreciation for the work accomplished and outlined some ideas for expanding the role of the ED.

Each member agency – CCEA, CFCREAB, CCE-US and ECCE – gave reports and assurance that accreditation in their respective regions was active and important.

One-Year Work Plan Highlights
The board approved the work plan for the 2013/2014 year, which included the completion of the mapping project with an assessment of the results, bylaw revisions, determination of stakeholders and the development of a communication plan, and the development of a procedure for secondary accreditation.

The meeting closed with a sense of direction and purpose and a commitment to making "things" happen. Board members left energized and with a strong sense of confidence regarding CCEI's future. CCEI is committed to fulfilling its role as the international authority on quality chiropractic education.
