Conventioners at Norwegian ECU Help Out With Anti-trust Legal ExpensesBy Editorial Staff Last week, a letter arrived here at MPI from Norway. Not a long letter -- it was rather short, actually. It read:"This money was collected in a raffle we had at the ECU Convention in Bergen, Norway, June of '89." It was signed simply, "The Norwegian Chiropractic Association." Enclosed in the letter was a check made out to the Anti-trust Fund in the amount of $992. Although a seemingly short message, in reality the letter says so much. Without commotion or fanfare, they graciously expressed their partnership as joint-colleagues in sharing this trust. Norway claims only 119 doctors of chiropractic in their entire country, with many concerns and needs of their own. Nonetheless, they recognized a need, (ours) as part of the entire profession's obligation. The ECU Convention, with attendees from all over the world was the vehicle that stirred the spirit of obligation that knows no boundaries, whether political, philosophical, or national. They decided it was up to individual chiropractors everywhere to help pay the legal expenses incurred by the historical court battle of the Wilk vs the AMA et al trials. While there is yet one member of the profession, one state, one organization, or one country subject to the threat of those whose greed and lust for power, overshadows the interest of the common good and freedom of health care for all patients, everywhere -- then all of chiropractic must stick up for and support one another. For our European brethern, we are touched and appreciative. Thank you, our friends of the ECU Convention in Norway, 1989.
