Leander Announces Ownership Change and Reorganization

Leander Health Technologies Corporation of Port Orchard, Washington, a company celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, recently announced a change in ownership and a major reorganization.

On January 31, 1992, Richard A. Flaherty, president and CEO of Leander, together with his wife, Catherine and several investors, purchased the company from Dr. Leander J. Eckard, the founder and inventor of the Leander Motorized and Leander Lite chiropractic adjusting tables. Mr. Flaherty said that Dr. "Leander," as many in the profession have come to know him, will continue to lecture, consult, and assist as requested on the company's behalf.

"Lee has been a moving force in the profession for over a decade, and I would not want to lose his valuable input and support," said Mr. Flaherty. "Further," he added, "Dr. Eckard was way ahead of his time in the development of a continuous passive motion (CPM) device to assist chiropractors in the treatment of the spine."

Mr. Flaherty is well-known throughout the chiropractic profession for his many contributions made in past years as president and senior creative director of Creative Concepts Group, Inc., an advertising, marketing design consulting firm formerly located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Earlier this year Creative Concepts Group merged with Leander Health Technologies as a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Mr. Flaherty was instrumental in presenting a marketing plan to the Mercy Center Advisory Board for the dissemination and distribution of the Mercy Center document, a plan that was eventually adopted. Most recently he was chosen to chair the Endorsements and Sponsorships Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee formed by the Board of Trustees of the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation.

Leander Health Technologies Corporation develops, manufactures, and distributes chiropractic adjusting tables, motorized flexion distraction tables, manual flexion distraction tables, mobilization tables, rehabilitation/therapy equipment, numerous cervical, spinal and extremity support products, a line of orthopedic supports, among other products. The company's products are currently sold through dealers in more than 26 countries worldwide and factory-direct in the United States.

The company pledges to continue its tradition of general financial support for the chiropractic profession. A certified college donation program and a plan to contribute towards research grants through foundations such as the CCR and FCER, are part of the reorganization.
