Canadian Chiropractic Association Unveils New Logo

Design Links Provincial Associations

By Editorial Staff

TORONTO, Ontario -- One of the events that took place at the Canadian Chiropractic Centennial Celebration was the unveiling of the new logo for the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) by association President Richard Giguere, DC.

The new insignia for the chiropractic profession in Canada was not left to chance, but the result of a 14-month national research study with focus groups in major cities, and extensive design and testing. The Canadian Chiropractic Association wanted a logo emblematic of chiropractic in Canada and the image of chiropractic as a health care source.

The adoption of the logo's wording, "Chiropractic Chiropratique," gives a nod to the bilingual reality in Canada. The art work is an abstract line design of the human figure, showing the back and spine, depicted on a polygon. A tilted letter 'C' encircles the polygon's left corner and symbolizes the evolving practice and profession of chiropractic.

Dr. Giguere further described the design at the unveiling: "A vignette at the right hand edge of the polygon alters the color from opaque to transparent, alluding to the transition from the present to the future. Along the base and right hand edge of the polygon is a border rule which adds a dimensional thrust to the symbol and completes the detailing of the dot vignette. The flagship colors of the new CCA logo are the reflex blue and metallic gold."

The new insignia, Dr. Giguere asserts, "will serve as a resource to link chiropractors with local provincial associations, and to promote visibility and awareness of the profession."

The nomenclature "Chiropractic Chiropratique Canada" will have a counterpart in each provincial insignia, i.e., the word, Chiropractic, plus the name of the province. Each province will have a distinctive set of colors.

In respect to marketing and public relations the CCA is encourage the provincial associations and chiropractors in the field to make the new logo highly visible. "It is by practical use of the new identity, and the new vision it represents, that the chiropractic profession will be able to build constituency support, and respond to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead," Dr. Giguere concluded.
