Chiropractic Health Care Section of the APHA Calls for Abstracts

By Editorial Staff

The Chiropractic Health Care Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA) is calling for abstracts representing the results of scientific research and programs related to chiropractic. Topics related to the theme of the 125th APHA annual meeting, "Communicating Public Health," will receive higher priority.

Topics of special interest include: multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to practice; novel approaches to public health education in chiropractic settings; chiropractic issues in the changing health care environment; public health implications of musculoskeletal conditions, including demographics and prevalence of the use of chiropractic services, costs of care, and evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic interventions; and appropriate methods and measurements for assessing the clinical outcomes of integrated health care. Abstracts related to program development and evaluation are also welcome, particularly concerning models of integrated health care delivery.

The Chiropractic Health Care Section welcomes proposals for roundtable and paper sessions on other topics.

There is a required format, which is explained on the abstract form under "general abstract guidelines." Session proposal submissions should include: 1) brief cover letter explaining the rationale for the session; 2) proposed chair and discussant; and 3) proposed order of papers. All abstracts and author ID forms must be submitted together for all papers in the proposed session.

All abstracts must adhere to the general APHA abstract guidelines, and also include: 1) a self-addressed, stamped envelope (to notify you of the status of your submission); and 2) a self-addressed, stamped postcard with title of your submission on the back (to acknowledge receipt of your submission). All communications should be with the Chiropractic Health Care Section program chair noted below to whom material was submitted.

Individuals may submit up to two abstracts as first author to the Chiropractic Health Care Section. Submit individual abstracts by mail (not fax or e-mail) to:
