Attitudes and Actions for the Evolving Chiropractic Assistant

Product Review by Jim Edwards, DC

Title: Attitudes and Actions for the Evolving Chiropractic Assistant
Type: Six-CD set
Publisher: The Masters Circle, Inc.
Part #: CD-10

Each of the six CDs in this set features a single speaker: Bob Hoffman DC; Carl Cleveland III, DC; Larry Markson, DC; Elisa Zinberg, DC; Alan Russo, DC; and Dennis Perman, DC.

On CD #1, "How To Supercharge Your Practice," Dr. Hoffman speaks with great power on a number of subjects. I especially enjoyed his discussion on the importance of having office""systems" in place to help reduce the day-to-day stress of running a practice and maximizing efficiency. On CD #2, "What Is A Chiropractor?" Dr. Carl Cleveland speaks with passion and conviction about chiropractic's early days and his own experience growing up the as the son of'"quacks." In the opinion of this reviewer, we must never lose contact with our roots and the struggle many endured to bring us to where we are today. We stand today on the shoulders of yesterday's giants. Chiropractic assistants will find this CD especially informative and empowering.

On CD #3, "Elegant Office Management for CAs," Dr. Markson highlights many of the policies and procedures necessary for practice growth. Fasten your seat belts on this one; it is nonstop, right-between-the-eyes information, brought to you at 90-miles per hour. On CD #4,""How to Collect 100% of Your Money," Dr. Zinberg speaks to a subject near and dear to all our hearts: how to collect our fees. Practicing "goodwill" goes a long way toward building and sustaining a practice, but it's collections that pay the bills. Without "fair exchange," patients don't get well and the lights don't stay on.

On CD #5, "Answers to Commonly Asked Questions," Dr. Russo has fun demonstrating to staff how to control and direct patient conversations by being the one asking the questions. Finally, on CD #6, Dr. Perman focuses on how CAs and doctors can contribute to creating a "healing" atmosphere within the office and set the "tone" of the patient's experience.

As it promises on the cover, this CD set contains information that will inspire, teach and motivate doctor and CA alike. I found each CD to be interesting, informative, instructive and even inspirational in places. While preparing this review, I listened to each CD multiple times and as often happens, I "discovered" new ideas each time. Each speaker does a tremendous job and the sound quality is superb. The topics are timely and relevant to today's practice. I tend to listen to recordings such as these with a highly critical ear and with high expectations. My attitude is, "don't bore me, don't waste my time, and don't tell me things I already know." This being said, I can unreservedly recommend every one of these CDs and offer my congratulations to each speaker for a job exceedingly well-done. For doctors who conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions, these CDs contain a gold mine of valuable material for use in staff training sessions for months to come. Use them as training materials or to stimulate staff discussion and reinforce your own office procedures. These CDs offer something for everyone.

Dr. Edwards' Rating:

9.5 out of 10
