Spearheaded by burgeoning scientific and clinical research literature, psychedelics have reached a level of media coverage and popular interest that has not been seen for over half a century. By “psychedelics,” we are referring to the unique class of substances that includes psilocybin (the active compound found in so-called “magic mushrooms”), LSD, dimethyltryptamine (DMT), ayahuasca, 5-MeO-DMT, and mescaline – each of which occurs in the natural world (except for LSD, which is a semi-synthetic compound).
Penn & Teller to Take on Chiropractic
The Showtime channel has announced a "controversial new series" entitled "Penn & Teller: Bullsh**!" The Las Vegas duo "promise an aggressive, irreverent exposé of taboo topics using the duo's trademark humor, knowledge of carnival tricks and con-artistry, as well as hidden cameras and blatant confrontation."Calling themselves the "self-proclaimed pit-bulls of truth," the entertainers will focus on "such sacred cows as chiropractic medicine, TV psychics, Feng Shui and second-hand smoke." They will also be looking at "alien abductions, Ouija boards and end of the world prediction, creationism, the purity of bottled water, global warming, miracle-workers and religious cults." The program will air at 11p.m. and is rated TV14.
