Foot Levelers Shares Over $100,000 with Centennial Foundation and Colleges

Donation Derived from Seminars

At a special reception in Phoenix, Arizona, Friday, January 22, 1993, Foot Levelers, Inc. donated $101,282.60 to be split 50/50 between chiropractic colleges, and the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation (CCF).

The $100,000 plus dollars were generated by the eight 1992 Foot Levelers' "birthday" seminars celebrating the company's 40th anniversary. Half of all fees derived from the seminar, after expenses, were donated by Foot Levelers. The registration form of the seminars allowed the attending DCs to direct their percentage of the donation to the college of their choice. The other half of the donations were set aside for use by the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation.

Acting as master of ceremonies for the reception was Gerard Clum, D.C., president of Life-West and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC).

After opening remarks and introductions, Kent Greenawalt, president of Foot Levelers, paid tribute to his father Monte for founding the company. Mr. Greenawalt thanked the profession for its support, noting that DCs attended the seminars from all over the world, including one who traveled from Saudi Arabia. Mr. Greenawalt pledged the company's dedication to furthering the chiropractic profession through quality education and research.

It was Dr. Monte Greenawalt's honor to present the donation checks. Representatives from the colleges were called forward to the platform to receive their checks. College presidents accepting the generous donations from Foot Levelers for their schools were:

  • Dr. John Allenberg (Northwestern)

  • Dr. Carl Cleveland III (Cleveland LA/KC)

  • Dr. Gerard Clum, Life West (also accepted on behalf of Life College)

  • Dr. William Dallas (Western States)

  • Dr. George Goodman (Logan)

  • Dr. Donald Kern (Palmer)

  • Dr. Peter Martin (Palmer West)

  • Dr. Jean Moss (Canadian Memorial)

  • Dr. Kenneth Padgett (NYCC; also accepted for Lincoln College Education & Research Fund)

  • Dr. Reed Phillips (LACC)

  • Dr. James Winterstein (National)

  • Dr. Frank Zolli (dean, Univ. of Bridgeport)

Accepting for Parker College was Executive Vice President Dr. Neil Stern; and Texas Chiropractic College was represented by Kenneth Linder, PhD, administrative vice president.

The SCASA schools, Sherman College of Chiropractic, Southern California College of Chiropractic, and Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic received contributions but did not have representatives present.

Dr. William Holmberg, the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation president, accepted the half-share check for $50,641.30 on behalf of the CCF and expressed his thanks to Foot Levelers. Other members of the Foundation present were Kerwin P. Winkler, D.C., CCF vice president of marketing (trustee of the ACA); and Carl Cleveland III, D.C. (trustee of the ACC).

Dr. Holmberg reported the progress and plans for the 1995 Centennial Celebration are moving ahead at a fast pace. He briefed the crowd on some of the functions to look forward to during chiropractic's 100th anniversary.

Looking to raise additional monies for the CCF and the chiropractic colleges, Kent Greenawalt announced the "Countdown to Centennial '93," a new series of seminars for this year. Contributions again will be split between the CCF and the colleges. The seminars will be similar in structure to those of 1992, but will differ in content. The seminars are described as educational sessions featuring dynamic speakers, free booths for colleges and the CCF, and national advertising.

"Countdown" seminars have been scheduled in the following cities:

  • Davenport, Iowa; July 10-11

  • San Jose, California; July 31-August 1

  • Kansas City, Missouri; August 21-22

  • Atlanta, Georgia; September 25-26

  • St. Louis, Missouri; October 2-3

  • Newark, New Jersey; November 6-7

  • Minneapolis, Minnesota; November 13-14

The seminars will provide 12 hours of license renewal credit in all states for those DCs attending; included in the $99 registration fee will be a postseminar party.
